The Breeders' Cup begins with its longest race – the mile and three-quarter Marathon – with horses from North America, South America and Europe. This will be the sixth running and the average winner has returned $37.20, including the Argentina-bred Calidoscopio ($36.40). Ever Rider will represent Argentina and the 5-year-old has the most experience at this distance, having started 12 times, winning three. David Jacobson, New York's leading trainer, will saddle his first Breeders' Cup starter with Cease.
