Cronut maker Dominique Ansel's newest creation: the Waffogato Apr 29th 2014, 17:26, by GINA PACE The dessert is a twist on the affogato, a classic Italian dessert made from vanilla gelato or ice cream that's topped with a hot shot of espresso. In Ansel's version, the vanilla ice cream is set into a waffle shape, and has bits of Belgian waffle, a bit of sea salt and tapioca pearls. A maple-syrup espresso is then poured on top.
